Bear attack survivor

“… He’s eating my gristle and he’s gnawing on my head. I was saying, ‘He’s eating my brains. I can feel it…’

Mr. Case is obviously one tough guy to survive this bear mauling and drive himself 25 km to find help.

Nature isn’t all warm and cuddly.

Happy Syttende Mai

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

It’s the 17th of May, the day when Norwegians celebrate their independence from their Swedish oppressors.

My visit to Norway in 1984 happened to coincide with Syttende Mai. I wandered through Oslo, enjoying the parades. I was amazed at the number of people dressed in traditional garb. I even saw the king come out on his balcony and wave to the people. Good memories.
